Vue Columbus is beautiful both inside and out. Our patio boasts a gorgeous view of the historic Brewery District and downtown skyline, giving event clients the versatility to mix indoor and outdoor experiences.

Fresh Air = Fresh Perspective

It’s no wonder that “getting some fresh air” is an action we take when we need to recharge. A recent study conducted by Lenovo found that getting outside for fresh air improves the health and wellbeing of employees. After just 29 minutes outside, 63 percent of employees studied felt better “in themselves” and their productivity was boosted by 45 percent.

So, why does fresh air feel so good? When breathing indoor or recirculated air, our bodies have to work harder to get the oxygen we need, according to Dr. Anthony Wong, an internist at Orange Coast Medical. Dr. Wong told SheKnows that “Serotonin is a neurotransmitter hormone in the brain that is vital to maintaining a healthy emotional state. Changes in serotonin levels have been associated with anxiety and depression. Because the level of serotonin in our brain is affected by the amount of oxygen that you inhale, it makes sense that getting some fresh air can improve your sense of happiness and well-being.”

Vue makes it easy to refresh your guests and boost serotonin during a meeting with a break on our patio!

Ways to Make the Most of Vue’s Patio

Guests who book a meeting or event in Vue’s Green Room or The 1877 Room have the option to use the patio as well. This area is an excellent option to get your guests up and moving for:

  • Team activities like ice breakers or energizing activities
  • Lunch or snack break
  • Breakout sessions
  • Post-meeting happy hours

Vue’s Green Room is particularly versatile as it opens directly to the patio via garage door, allowing guests to bring the outdoors in all day long and move freely throughout the two spaces.

The spacious patio off of the 1877 Room can be arranged for up to 75 people. Vue’s team can adjust the space to fit your needs, whether that means bringing a 65” monitor out to watch a sporting event or moving outside for an after meeting happy hour! (And, don’t worry, we always have a rain plan if the weather doesn’t cooperate on your event day.)

Renovations were recently completed on Vue’s larger patio, which includes a larger space for hosting guests, more plant life and outdoor lighting, and a more private inviting space for guests, while still maintaining our perfect view of the downtown skyline!

Ventilation and COVID-19

One of the simplest ways to freshen up a room, and improve air ventilation, is to open windows and doors. And, introducing outdoor air is one of the CDC’s recommendations to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and other airborne viruses.

According to to the CDC, “SARS-CoV-2 viral particles spread between people more readily indoors than outdoors. Indoors, the concentration of viral particles is often higher than outdoors, where even a light wind can rapidly reduce concentrations.”

The CDC lists opening windows and doors to increase outdoor air flow among its recommended strategies to help reduce the concentration of viral particles. The CDC states, “The lower the concentration, the less likely viral particles can be inhaled into the lungs (potentially lowering the inhaled dose); contact eyes, nose, and mouth; or fall out of the air to accumulate on surfaces.”

Bringing outdoor air inside is easily accomplished in Vue’s Green room via the Garage Door and in the 1877 Room with Vue’s main entrance doors. Ventilation itself isn’t enough to combat the spread of airborne viruses, and these fresh air options are just one step in Vue’s commitment to guest health.
